The most significant and personal experiences I had at my internship involved all the wonderful opportunities I had. The animals I got to work with, study, and just get to know were amazing. Some learning experiences involved areas from Biology to recording data to getting a real work life experience.

Group photo of the San Diego Zoo HTHMA interns. On this day, we visited the Wild Animal Park's Institute and Clinic. We saw a C-Section performed on an Antelope. We also saw all the scientists in action, and overall this day was really interesting.

This was today! Early in the morning, we were able to meet the cute Sea Lion, Jake. We also got to see what they keep in the back for the shows like the Cheetahs, Hyenas, and Wolves.

I got a kiss from Jake, the Sea Lion. I was really nervous so please excuse my face!

A few days ago at lunch, Alana and I went to go visit the Sea Otters in the Children's Zoo. This little guy swam around in circles, then repeatedly came up, stood on his legs, and stared at us.

Today, we went to see the baby Panda. This was the only time he woke up.

This is one of the sister Pandas. I thought she was so cute, and I'm so glad I got a clear shot of her face.

This is Bo. He is one of the Western Lowland Gorillas I am studying and he is about 2 years old. He's a brave little guy and loves playing with his dad and the other baby in his troop, Ekuba.

This is Frank. Everyone at the Zoo adores Frank because he is the youngest out of all the Gorillas (A year and four months). He is very small, loves to play and tap on the glass, and loves to chest beat which he is doing here!

I did not take a photo of my mentor today or any day of this week because I have not been able to get on a computer during my internship. I work outside, therefor I cannot go on a computer, look at Randy's blog, and see what I need to photograph. Therefor, I do not have a photo.

As for my mentor, I'll tell you a little bit about him.

His name is Greg Vicino. He's a really nice guy, and has a sense of humor. He keeps a conversation going, and has taught me everything really well. He's made sure I understand the content that I am working with. Greg works as the head of the Children's Zoo at the San Diego Zoo.

I sent him the questions for my interview, but he has not responded yet, so I'm going to email and ask him if he can answer them!

Today was a nice day! Although, I had no photos of collaboration. You see, I'm basically on my own the entire internship. So to make up for the photos, I took some of the animals and some of Alana and I at lunch!

This week, I worked from home yesterday and today. Because the storm was so bad, my mentor told me to stay home and work on my Excel spreadsheets there. I felt bad at first, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to record in the rain anyways.

Other than that, some exciting things I saw involved a son getting into a fight with his dad, the Silverback. A few females got involved, trying to protect the son, and I thought that was really interesting to see.

For this blog, I do not have any content because of the storm. My day was spent at home, where I worked on Excel Spreadsheets.

Here are some questions that I am thinking about asking:

1. Did you always want to work with animals? Has it been something you've wanted since you were a child?

2. What was your experience like in college?

3. How long have you been working with animals? And what specifically interested you to work with primates?

4. What college degree(s) do you feel suits working with animals? Does it depend on the species or is it all the same?

5. You've mentioned before that you've been to multiple areas of Africa. What was your experience like? Has it strengthened your bond with primates?

6. If you never became what you are now, what job do you think you would be doing?
